Spring Planting

We decided last Sunday that we would tackle the chore of replanting our entire front flower bed. We did this not long after we moved into our house, but since then, the plants have had to face some rough conditions. We didn't do a great job taking care of some of them, especially with the winter we just had. We dug up everything and started fresh. It was a task that both of us weren't completely prepared for! The next day we were both so sore and kept saying..."I don't remember it hurting this bad after we replanted last time." We are a few years older, so I guess it was more of a chore. Anyway, it's done and we're glad to have gotten that over with.

Cash enjoyed laying in the sun and playing in the water while we were working hard.

Before...pretty sad looking

Before...our poor plants.

Our Beer Retriever

Some of you may know that Kurt has been working with Cash for a long time trying to train him to bird hunt and retrieve birds. Cash is successful some of the time, but mostly just performs on his own time. He is the absolute best family dog we could ever ask for, so I'm not complaining, but Kurt really wants him to be his hunting buddy too.

However, it seems that we've found Cash's next calling - retrieving beer or other items from the cooler. Cash loves to open up a cooler with his nose and help himself to ice, so Kurt wanted to see if he would fetch items out of the cooler. Sure enough, he did it. The next morning, I let Cash out in the backyard to do his business. I came to the back door to let him back in, and he was digging in the cooler. Not only was his face in the ice, but he had managed to spread beer across the yard. I guess we're still working on his newest trick!

The New Year - 2011

As many of you know, I am WAY behind on updating our blog. I'll try to get better. I'm going to go back a few months so you all know what we've been up to and how things are going in the House of the Woodys.

We were so glad to welcome a New Year when 2011 came along. As many of our family and friends know, Kurt had been out of a job since late April 2010. He started with another company shortly after April last year, but it turned out to be nothing promising and soon fizzled out. Kurt went back to waiting tables at an upscale steak house near our home from August to December while he worked very hard at home during his down time to look for other opportunities. He had a few interviews during this time and two seemed very promising. One of the jobs didn't work out in his favor, but as we all know, it just wasn't meant to be.

Thankfully an amazing opportunity came his way in early December. After going back and forth and interviewing with this company for 4 months, they offered him the job! Kurt left the restaurant, we went out for a nice celebratory dinner, and we haven't looked back since. Kurt has been a different person since he started working for Orthofix in December. and I feel like I'm back to myself again too. Our house is so nice to come home to after a long day without mentioning the job search or any leads that might have come that day. What a relief it has been to have a great opportunity come our way. We're looking forward to a wonderful 2011! This was Take #10 on our Christmas card...Kurt and Cash were ready to call it quits.
