After a weekend packed full of activities, I'm finally recovered and getting around to making a blog post. We had a wonderful weekend enjoying the festivities surrounding Kyle and Daphanie's wedding. Thankfully the tropical storm missed us, so the weather was nice, but definitely HOT! We enjoyed getting to see everyone this weekend and visit with some of Kurt's family that we don't get to see that often. I brought my camera along for the rehearsal dinner, but Kurt grabbed my purse (containing the camera) and heels (thankfully) after the wedding ceremony and put them in the car so I didn't get pictures from the reception. I can't wait to see the photographer's pictures though. Enjoy these for now...

The Birds
I just had to share this. Yesterday afternoon I decided to wash Kurt's truck and get outside for a bit during the day. I had Cash in the front yard with me and after 5 min of being in the heat, I heard this one particular bird in the tree making a loud, obnoxious sound. The bird was looking at Cash from the tree and squawking at him constantly. It even dive bombed him several times. He was totally oblivious to it until the bird got him in the rear!
When Kurt got home, I told him he had to see this. We went outside, and if you know our dog, he loves to grab shoes, remotes, or anything and just lay with it. He has grown out of the chewing stage, but loves the attention and the chase when he gets a "prize." As soon as we got outside, he grabbed one of Kurt's mowing shoes from the garage and took it with him in the yard. I was taking some of the pictures and the video below as Cash looked on. This bird has a nest in the tree in our front yard and definitely thinks that Cash is out to get her nest, although he just wanted to play keep away with the shoe. The bird got pretty close to him on several occasions, but he never moved from his spot. Such a funny dog!

Crystal Beach Getaway
Over the 4th of July holiday, Kurt and I met my family at Crystal Beach. We were able to get away on Thursday afternoon and spent 4 nights just relaxing and enjoying each other. We all had a blast on the mini-vacation trip. It brought back lots of memories! We grew up on this beach every summer. Although the water isn't blue and the sand isn't white, it still feels the same between your toes! It was great to get away for a long weekend.
Our days were spent on the beach. The men set up a tent, which was a lifesaver for getting out of the hot sun, and we cooked lunch on the beach everyday. Hayden usually decided when we would head back to the cabin for showers and dinner. He was so much fun to watch on the beach. I'm not sure who is more fascinated with fishing - Hayden or Kurt. Here are some pictures from our weekend.

Crown Moulding Project
Every summer we have attempted to try and take on a project at our house. This summer it was crown moulding. This project, although our idea, was really put into the hands of my Dad and brother. It was a little more than what we and they were thinking it would be due to some of the odd angles and corners in our living area. Kurt and I painted the moulding in our garage and my Dad and Chad arrived Thursday night and started cutting it and putting it up on Friday morning. They taught Kurt and I how to caulk the moulding and the four of us finished doing that on Saturday afternoon. Once they left on Saturday, we debated on taking a break but decided to go ahead and finish it out. We touched up the corners and nail holes with more paint and used our wall paint to go under the moulding. We finally laid down around 9pm Saturday night and were completely exhausted. I'm sure my Dad and Chad would say the same. We couldn't ever thank them enough for taking this on with us and for all of their hard work and help. Here are some pictures of what we all accomplished this weekend. Random project: an old window I picked up and then added some vintage prints to for our bathroom.
The rest of the pictures are before and after the moulding went up...

After thought: After we finished the moulding, Kurt and I were just sitting at home on Saturday night admiring the work that had been done and thinking that it really added so much to our house. As we were just staring at everything, I added - "Don't you think it would really bring out the moulding if we painted the ceilings the same color as our walls?" His response - "Maybe we'll save that for next summer's project." Any thoughts?

Happy Anniversary to Us!
Kurt and I are celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary today! As I was thinking back on the years since our wedding, I could hardly believe it has been 3 years already. It seems like just yesterday we were heading to the church and celebrating with all of our family and friends. I feel blessed to have so much in my life and to have a wonderful person to share it with. The love and support from our families has been a great help to us as we've started our life together. We are looking forward to celebrating tonight and to many more years of celebrating to come.

Chad's House
At the end of January Chad's house caught fire in what was said to be an electrical issue in his master bathroom. It was a crazy time, and we felt thankful that he was not at home when the fire started and that Hayden was not with him at the time either. It took a while to get going with the insurance company but just 4 short weeks after the fire, the Charlie Coco Construction team got started on his new home. They finished it in just 9 weeks! I think Chad was ready to move out of my Dad's house just as they were ready to see him get into his new place. It is just beautiful...here are some pictures. Front elevation with connecting carport to the garage, which isn't pictured here.

Father's Day Weekend
We were in Beaumont for Father's Day this past weekend and although we didn't do a whole lot, we had a blast! I had my camera with me for some of the weekend and tried to remember to take pictures. My aunt, uncle, and cousins from Austin came in for the weekend, and of course, I didn't get one picture of all of us together! We had a great time eating yummy food and getting to catch up with everyone. Hayden joined us for the weekend to kick off summer with his Daddy. I'm sure it's going to be a great one. Mamoo with all of her beautiful flowers - this one is for Anne!
